This map depicts the North American continent with countries in contrasting colors. Alaska is shown as “Russian America” (purchased by the U.S. in 1867). The Western Region of the United States is depicted with the Western Territories located prior to the formation of Montana Tty (1864), Idaho Tty (1868), Wyoming Tty (1868), Nevada Tty (1864), and Arizona Tty (1866).
Exploratory routes are shown with an additional note provided regarding the “Discovery of the North West Passage”. A very detailed view of the continent when the United States was engaged in the Civil War.
