Ancient Bronze Ceremonial Axe Head - Anatolia 1st Millennium BC


Attractive small cast bronze ceremonial or votive axe head with round shaft opening and double lobed head. 

Late Bronze Age, Asia Minor (Phrygia?) - circa 1st Millennium BC

Size 3 x 1.5 inches (78x41mm), 84.67 grams.  A fine well-crafted artifact with pleasing dark find patina.

Provenance: Midwestern US private collection, acquired in Ankara, Turkey in 1964.
