''CONNECTICUT'' Philadelphia: Anthony Finley, c. 1831. Very fine map folding pocket map with original hand-coloring and original boards (attached). Engraved by Young and Delleker. (Image: 8 5/8 x 11 1/8’’)
David Rumsey shows no reference for the series of miniature pocket maps issued by Philadelphia publisher Anthony Finley, c. 1831. He lists only five maps in the series – Maine, Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, and the U.S. – but not this map of Connecticut!
This very rare map of Connecticut shows the state in great detail. Topographical features are shown, with major towns, cities, land routes and waterways shown. A facsimile of the inside front board is displayed on the back of the mat.
