“DELAWARE” Massachusetts: Thomas Gamaliel Bradford, c. 1838 (dated lower margin). (Image: 14 ¼ x 11 ¼ ‘’)
Very fine & beautifully engraved map with original hand-coloring. Engraved by G. W. Boynton (owner of an engraving company in Boston 1830’s - 40’s). From An Illustrated Atlas, Geographical, Statistical and Historical of the United States and Adjacent Countries by T. G. Bradford.
Reference Phillips Atlases #1381.
This exceptionally handsome map depicts Delaware with the three counties named and in contrasting pastel colors. Topographical features are shown with various land routes, water routes, islands, cities and towns identified. A very interesting and very scarce view of the region as it existed in the early 19th century.
