“MAP OF CANADA EAST IN COUNTIES” Philadelphia: S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr., c. 1860 - - First edition of the Mitchell, Jr. atlas. (Image: 10 ½ x 13 ½’’) Engraved map with original hand-coloring.
This detailed historical map depicts the area known today as Quebec. Counties are shown in contrasting colors with major cities, towns and waterways identified. Several neighboring U.S. States are also identified. The inset depicts the “Environs of Montreal”. A very attractive view of the region as it was known in the mid 19th century.
Canada East was a name used 1841 to 1867 denoting the Quebec province.
