“PLAN OF CINCINNATI AND VICINITY.” Philadelphia: S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr., c. 1860 (dated in the margin) from Mitchell’s New General Atlas - FIRST EDITION. Engraved map with exceptionally bright original hand-coloring. (Image: 10 ¾ x 11’’)
This map, with its highly ornate border, depicts the City of Cincinnati and surrounding region in great detail. Major buildings (Post Office, Western Museum, Mayor’s Office…), streets, railroads and depots are identified. Much of Covington and Newport in Kentucky is also shown. A very detailed and attractive view of the city during the American Civil War.
