''MAP OF HINDOOSTAN, FARTHER INDIA, CHINA, AND TIBET.'' Philadelphia: S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr., 1860, from the First edition of Mitchell's "New General Atlas" - dated 1860 in the lower margin. Engraved map with original hand-coloring.
This attractive historical map shows the countries of southeastern Asia with borders delineated and their counties/provinces named and in contrasting colors. Topographical features are shown and major towns, cities, and mountains (including ''Kunchinginga, 28,178 ft highest known Mt. of the Globe''), deserts, railroads, canals, islands and waterways are located. The Great Wall of China is also shown.
Very attractive map in excellent condition. The 1860 issue of the Mitchell Atlas is distinguished by a dramatic dark floral border, and particularly fine and bold color. Shipped unmatted.
