This map depicts Michigan with its counties named and in contrasting colors. Topographical features are detailed, and major towns and cities, and various land, steam boat and rail routes are identified. 

The southeastern border is shown with both the ‘'New Boundary Line” and “Old Line’’.  The inset, upper right, lists the steamboat routes from Detroit to Fort Gratiot and to Fort Howard.

The inset, left, depicts the ''Western Part of Michigan''. A very detailed view of the state as it existed in the 1840’s.
