Psalm 33:7 – 37:15 (King James 34:8 – 38:15):   “Iste pauper…” (This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him…Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me…The unjust hath said within himself, that he would sin: there is no fear of God before his eyes…Be not emulous of evildoers; nor envy them that work iniquity…Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath…).

There are only about 70 complete copies of this edition known to exist in libraries worldwide. It is a rare incunabula from the series of Bibles by Amerbach known as the “Fontibus et Graecis” editions. Amerbach was the earliest known printer who attempted to correct the Latin Vulgate text by comparison to the original Greek and Hebrew texts, and the name derives from a couplet on the dated last leaf of the book, which begins Fontibus et Graecis Hebraeorum quoque libris…” (From the Greek and Hebrew Sources…).

Reference: Goff #B-581: Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucke #4198; Darlow and Moule #6083 (note on Fontibus editions).

A very fine example from a historic pre-1500 incunabula Bible, well printed on fine handmade paper, and in excellent condition.
