An original incunabula leaf from Biblia Latina, printed in Venice, Italy 1480 by Francis Renner of Heilbronn.  Bibliographical references: Goff B-681; GKW 4241 (208 x 160mm – 8 1/8 x 6 1/4’’ – Text block: 6 ½ x 4 ½ ’).

Printed in double columns of 51 lines on fine laid paper and embellished with five three-line illuminated initials alternating in blue and red.  Numerous initials heightened with red.

Line one continues Psalm 87 (King James 88) 3-19:  “Intret…” (Let my prayer come in before thee: incline thy ear to my petition…).

The three-line illuminated blue “M” begins Psalm 88 (KJ 89) complete: “Misericordias…” (The mercies of the Lord I will sing forever…).

The three-line illuminated “D” begins Psalm 89 (KJ 90) complete: “Domine…” (Lord, thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation…).

The three-line illuminated blue “Q” begins Psalm 90 (KJ 91) complete: “Qui habitat…” (He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob…).

The three-line illuminated red “N” IS A SCRIBAL ERROR and should have been a “B”.  It begins Psalm 91 (KJ 92) complete: “Nonum (sic)…” (It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High…). 

The three-line illuminated blue “D” begins Psalm 92 (KJ 93) 1-7: “Domini regnavit…” (The Lord hath reigned, he is clothed with beauty…).
