Size (unfolded) : 33 x 17.5 inches – Size (folded) 5.75 x 3.25 inches

Map of London extending from Hyde Park, Regents Park, and Chelsea in the West; following the Thames to the border of Essex with the West India and East India Dock and the Isle of Dogs at the East.  All streets are clearly marked and an extensive legend is beneath the map.

Comes with the original slipcase, titled “Cruchley’s New Plan of London with the East and West India Docks, in Miniature, Improved to 1831: Containing a Table of Reference to upwards of 600 Principal Streets, Squares, Public Buildings, Etc.”

Some loss, not affecting text, to the blank thinner sides of the slipcase.

Cruchley (1787-1880) worked under Aaron Arrowsmith and later acquired the stock of George and John Carey. “Some of the clearest and most attractive London maps to appear after Faden’s 1810 edition of Horwood were published by George Cruchley” Howgego, p. 24.

Map in fine condition, minor pinholes in linen at a few intersections - some loss not affecting text, to the blank thinner sides of the slipcase.
