This map from a fine Dutch State Bible, depicts the Travels of St. Paul and the other Apostles in the area of the Holy Land and along the eastern Mediterranean. The nine vignettes surrounding the map depict episodes from the Book of Acts detailing critical moments in the lives of St. Paul and the other Apostles: Paul blinded on the road to Damascus, Baptized by Ananias in the city, being lowered in a basket from the walls of the city to escape his enemies, Paul before conversion, learning at the feet of Gamaliel, the famous Pharisee and doctor of law, observing the stoning of Stephen, Paul healing the paralytic, converting Lydia & Paul teaching the Athenians. Each scene is identified with reference to the appropriate scriptural passages.

A small ship in the Mediterranean traces St. Paul’s journey from Judea to Rome. Sailing Ships and a compass rose decorate the sea.

Fascinating and finely engraved map in fine antiquarian condition.
