Printed in Ulm by Johann Zainer, 9 April 1474.
Leaf size: 408 x 282mm – 16 x 11.25 inches (Text block: 10 x 7.5 inches).
Printed in double columns of 50 lines on fine laid paper and embellished with two three-line hand-scribed initials in red and blue and with additional rubrication in red.
This fine Royal Folio Leaf is from the first printed edition of the Liber Biblia Moralis, an allegorical interpretation of the Old and New Testaments by the French Benedictine encyclopedist Pierre Bersuire (Petrus Belchoirius, d. 1362), prior of the Convent of St. Eloi in Paris.
This particular leaf contains the biblical interprettions from the Book of Numbers.
This edition was an early production of the first Ulm book printer, Johann Zainer, whose brother was the Augsburg printer Gunter Zainer. His first dated book was completed in January 1473.
