Juris Utriusque Doctor is a Latin term meaning doctor of both laws. It refers to a combined law degree, in both civil and canon law. The degree was conferred on Catholic and German scholars of the Middle Ages and early modern times. At present, the degree is awarded only by the Pontifical Lateran University in the State of the Vatican City after a period of six years study.
