This view depicts the large adobe church in El Paso del Norte “the name signifying the easiest route, along the Rio Grande, by which the Spanish passed into the unknown north”.

Vaudricourt made his drawing of El Paso as a member of an official American team, headed by William H. Emory, that set out to survey the United States/Mexican boundary in the mid-19th century.
