This large and unusually detailed map depicts the Streets of Brooklyn, NY, as they were known in the 1890’s.

Railroads and rivers are identified throughout the map. Streets are named and parks & cemeteries are located. Several major buildings are also located, including City Hall, US Navy Hospital, Post Office, and the Navy Yard. The Hudson River Tunnel and the Brooklyn Bridge are also noted.

The inset, upper right, depicts “Brooklyn and Vicinity” with elevated railroads identified and towns, islands, and waterways located.
