"Plan of Philadelphia" c 1862 - Mitchell

$0.00

“PLAN OF PHILADELPHIA” Philadelphia: S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr., dated 1860 in lower margin, published in the 1862 edition of Mitchell’s New General Atlas.  Engraved map with exceptionally bright original hand-coloring. (Image: 11 x 12 ¾ ’’)

This very detailed map, with its highly ornate border, shows the city of Philadelphia with major streets, squares, rail, and parks identified. Numerous buildings are named (Banks, Museums, Libraries, Hotels…). Also shown are the Ferry routes, Steamboat routes, and Sand Bars in the Delaware River. An excellent view of the city as it was known early in the Civil War.
