$0.00

“MARTHA’S VINEYARD ISLAND”  Massachusetts: c. 1950.  Artist: Larry Parker (signed lower right) published by the New England Map Co. Color-printed pictorial map with original color. (Image: 15 x 22 ¼ ’’)

This map is in unusually good condition, and is an attractive view of the popular vacation destination in the 1950’s !!!

These tourist souvenir maps were sold on the island and often folded or discarded.  As a result, most which actually survive are in poor condition. The map notes most

of the historically important locations as well as the other popular tourist attractions.  It is replete with vignettes of local scenes, including Edgartown Harbor and several lighthouses. The “Naval Airport” was a WWII US Navy training facility that was decommissioned in 1946 and turned over for civil use, becoming the Martha’s Vineyard Airport in 1959.
