This unusual map depicts the United States in great detail. The chart, lower right, explains the change in population from 1880-1890 by color.  Topographical features are shown, states are named and delineated, and major cities, towns, Indian Reservations, waterways, mountains, and deserts are located.  The railway system is also shown across the country.

The note, at the bottom explains how the total 10 year increase of 25.57 percent was calculated.  A very attractive and informative view displaying the population of the United States over 100 years ago!
