This detailed historical map depicts the region from Tartary south to the northern portion of the Philippines – including present-day Mongolia, China, Japan, North and South Korea, and part of the Philippines.  Topographical features are shown, major cities, deserts and waterways located, and the Great Wall of China  (Muraille de la Chine) is shown.  Some ocean currents and trade winds are also shown.

Rigobert Bonne (c. 1729 - 1795) was a well respected cartographer who served as the French Royal Hydrographer.  His principal interest lay in the production of marine charts which were noted for their detail and accuracy.
