This very detailed 19th century map depicts Boston and its surrounds with the Wards in contrasting pastel colors.  Streets, parks, cemeteries, “Insane Hospital”, “Blind Asylum”, “Convent Ruins”, “State Prison” and railroads are identified.  Bridges, ferries and docks are also located.  

The inset, lower right, depicts a “MAP showing the PRESENT LIMITS of the City of BOSTON 1871”. A very informative view of the area as it existed in the 1870's!!

Overall nice condition, centerfold separation in lower margin closed on verso with archival materials.
