This unusually detailed map depicts Baltimore as it was known in the 1890’s. Railroads are shown throughout. Major streets are named and several cemeteries and parks are located.
Numerous buildings and institutions are also identified (Penitentiary, Board of Trade, Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, Blind Asylum…).
The inset at the top depicts a “MAP OF BALTIMORE AND ENVIRONS” – delineating the “City Limits” and extending the view to three miles by two miles.
