This very detailed map shows Chicago with wards numbered and in contrasting colors. Major streets, parks, depots, cemeteries, and railroads are identified. By 1870 Chicago boasted over 360,000 in population.
Published shortly before the Great Fire (occurring October, 1871), which destroyed more than half the city (many buildings noted on this map were actually destroyed by the fire).
