"Mexico" c 1827 - Pre Republic of Texas - Finley

$0.00

“MEXICO” Philadelphia:  Anthony Finley, from  A New General Atlas, 1827.  Very fine map with full original hand-coloring, engraved by Young and Delleker. (Image: 8 ½ x 11 1/8’’). A scarce map in nice condition, with minor toning and spotting, and very attractive color.

This handsome historical map depicts Mexico, which in the 1820s included the region of present-day Texas to the Pacific Ocean.

The region known now as Texas is shown under the “Intendency of San Louis Potosi”. Indian tribes are located throughout the map (including the “Yabipias Indian with long beards”).  Topographical features are shown and major cities, towns, mountains, waterways and islands are located. "Old California", "New California" and "New Albion" are noted.

A fine example from Finley’s atlas, which was highly praised for its elegance and clarity.
