This highly decorative map depicts the African Barbary Coast (Morocco to the Nile delta) with topographical features shown and numerous cities, towns, villages, mountains, deserts, and waterways identified (many fictitious).
A barge lies at the mouth of the Nile in the Mediterranean and numerous animals indigenous to the region are shown (elephants, lions, monkeys, ostriches, camels, goats, a fire-breathing dragon, crocodile, etc.).
The map is further embellished with decorative title and scale of miles cartouches and a compass rose.
