This attractive historical map shows Wisconsin just 11 years after statehood (admitted 1848). Topographical features are shown, and most cities, towns, waterways, wagon roads, canals, islands and railroads are identified.
The inset, lower left, depicts the “Vicinity of Milwaukee”. The survey grids indicate that government surveys had not yet been completed for all areas. A very detailed view of Wisconsin as it appeared prior to the Civil War.
