Roman Pottery Cup
c. 1st – 2nd Century AD
Height: 2 inches Largest Diameter: 3.25 inches
A very fine ancient Roman terracotta cup – wheel turned and decorated with concentric spiral rings on the body. The cup is footed and has a slightly flared rim.
A superior example of Roman provincial manufactured utility ware. Nicely shaped, delicately potted and in excellent condition with no cracks. The surface shows some light encrustation from burial.
From a private Midwestern collection – found in Anatolia in the 1960’s.
