This historical and decorative map depicts Texas as it existed during the Civil War Era.  The Butterfield Overland Mail Route is shown (from El Paso to Sherman and north into the Indian Territory). Also noted is the U.S. Mail Route

Topographical features are depicted and major towns, cities, water routes and other land routes identified.  Counties are shown as they existed early in the 1860’s, when very little was settled beyond longitude 100 - west of Concho County.

 Insets are also provided showing the “Plan of Galveston Bay” and the “Plan of Sabine Lake” as well as a detailed view of the “Plan of the Northern Part of Texas”.
